IHS claims that Google Glass materials costs $152

Referencing an IHS research, Wall Street Journal declares that the total cost of all Google Glass components is $152.47.

It should be noted that this is not the first attempt to estimate the prime cost of this product.

Analysts from the independent portal Teardown.com have previously disassembled Google Glasses and estimated the overall value of the parts to be around $79.87. Many parts of the device are made by Texas Instruments, an established partner of the Google company.

The market value of Google Glass is $1500. Is it the sign of an emphatically overpriced item? IHS experts warn us against that kind of thinking. In fact there is a lot of immaterial resources which should be taken into account. Any calculations without those cases would be one-eyed.

«When you buy Google Glass for $1,500, you are getting far, far more than just $152.47 in parts and manufacturing,» said Andrew Rassweiler, an IHS CEO.
