Global server market has felt in 4,1%

According to Gather, the worldwide server market volume went down by 4.1 % to $ 11.4 billion in the first quarter of 2014. Analysts claimed that this component of the IT market has been declining for five consecutive quarters.

Growth was recorded only in one segment of the market- the x86 servers, experiencing growth for four consecutive quarters. Sales have risen by 2.8%, in financial terms, and 1.7% in quantity. Substantial decrease should be noted in the sales of Unix-servers. It is 16.8% in fiscal and 19.9% in quantity. Other server architectures (mainframes, especially) declined by 37.6% in value.

Hewlett-Packard gained the first place in the global server market. HP became the leader in both revenue and rate of deliveries. Earnings growth was 25.5% and server sales increased by 22.6%.

According to Gather, IBM took the second place in terms of revenue and the third in the number of servers sold. Dell is the third in financial ratings and the second in terms of sold copies.
